Wrong direction in design

With the latest 4.8.x version of Jetpack, I honestly have to say I am very disappointed in the new design. In my opinion, the new design is really not user friendly and the wordpress.com toolbar is even more confusing when you are not sure if you are in your familiar WP dashboard or somewhere else such as wordpress.com

I had noticed the Widget Visibility and Jetpack contact modules were nowhere to be seen and then posting this in the support, I find out the solution is to go to your Dashboard page on your site’s dashboard. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the “Debug” link. Then, look for the link that says “Access the full list of Jetpack modules available on your site.”

….should not have to do that. Before, it was easy enough to go through the tabs then activate what modules you want.

Sorry people, but a long time ago I was not a fan of Jetpack, then as improvements were coming in, I started to warm up again and was starting to use it more and even signed up for a premium jetpack package; now I am planning to drop it and use separate plugins to replace the modules I was using. Jetpack (and wordpress.com) is getting too intrusive now.

We will have to see where things go over the next year with Automattic and its Jetpack product and how it’s getting integrated into the self-hosted WP.

Get it!

I have been using this plugin and it has been working great so far and providing some very good insights and protection.

Its unbelievable the kinds of features packed into a free plugin.

No issues so far. Thanks to the developers for making this available and keeping it up to date!

Get it for your website! ‘nuff said!

Very happy with latest version and direction of this plugin

I’ve been using this since its inception, and there have been bumps in the road, but the latest edition has proven a breeze. I particularly love the previous and every new integration with WordPress.com, as well as taking on common plugin tasks that every WordPress site needs. It’s a great front-end community testing of core features.

Poor support for upgrade fiasco

A little over a week ago, Jetpack released version 4.7.1 which wiped out my website. After deleting the plugin, my website was restored. Version 4.7.2 was supposed to be the fix, but there was a glitch in connecting my wordpress.com account with my wordpress.org website, a circular error.
The customer support I received was poor. Ideas were suggested for a fix, but nothing worked. Then the support person no longer responded to requests for additional help. I would check in daily for any new information or ideas for fixes. Absolutely no response.
Today I tried once again to totally delete the plugin and reinstall. The newest version 4.7.3 must have addressed this issue as it is now working.
I understand glitches happen. The customer support for this major glitch was inadequate.

  • Some plugins were adding content on outbound http requests causing an infinite loop we fixed this right up.
  • We removed some warnings that were occurring when translations didn’t exist by adding a fallback.
  • We’ve added Moroccan Arabic translations, and switched to language packs for Croatian, Spanish (Chile) and Greek.
  • Sync was running into issues so we’ve limited dequeue time to 1/3 of PHP’s max execution time, which has unclogged the problem.
  • We’re now sending full and incremental queues separately so that a failure in one doesn’t block the other.
  • There was a JavaScript enqueuing error with our Sharing feature that has been repaired.
  • The Top Posts widget now includes the ability to list attachment (media) pages.
  • We weren’t building CPT links correctly resulting in bad navigation, which is now fixed.
  • We removed the form legend for default Tiled Gallery settings as it doesn’t relate.
  • With shortcodes we now return early from processing them if no string is passed, as they are required.
