Step 1: Download the version of WordPress you want to install

Step 2: Log in to admin panel and deactivate all the plugins

Step 3: Log out from word press and log in to your hosting control panel (I guess you’re using cPanel) > and from “File Manager” go to your website’s “root” folder.

Step 4: Upload your previous version of word press Zip file there and extract into a different folder, ex. say “WP”

Step 5: Now, excluding “wp-content”, shift your all files and folders of “wp” to the root documents by using “move to” option in “File Manager”, so that the previous version’s files and folders will overwrite all excluding “wp-content” folder of that new version, as it have your themes, plugins and me media library’s files.

Step 6: Now, try to login to your word press admin panel, word press will request you to update My-SQL database, accept request.

If you are going to downgrade word press from FTP, enter in your root document and all other things will be same as that of cPanel.

PS: If you are not familiar with these things, then please contact your web host and tell them to take full backup of your word press website. You can also export all your posts, re-install previous version, then import all posts again.
