It runs
* AFTER WooCommerce and the FREE build of the plugin are active.
*
* What it has to solve: a fresh store has no orders, and a plugin that attaches
* files to orders has nothing to show on a store with no orders. So the seed
* builds a small print shop -- the kind of business that sends proofs, invoices
* and certificates -- with three orders in different states, real files attached
* to two of them, and product files on every product.
*
* The landing page is the admin orders list, where the Attachments column shows
* which orders carry files and its Manage button opens them without leaving the
* list. The customer's side is one click away: the orders belong to the signed-in
* account, so My account -> Orders shows the same files as the buyer sees them.
*
* Every attachment goes through the plugin's own services -- Storage::adopt_for()
* for the file, OrderAttachments and ProductAttachments for the record -- rather
* than being written into meta by hand. The demo data then passes the same
* sanitising and lands in the same protected folders as a real upload, and if
* the storage format ever changes the seed follows it instead of quietly
* producing records the plugin no longer reads.
*
* Landing on /wp-admin/admin.php?page=wc-orders assumes HPOS. WooCommerce makes
* it the default on new installs and Playground always installs the latest, so
* that route exists. The option is deliberately not toggled here: the data stores
* are chosen when WooCommerce boots, before this script runs, and switching mid-
* request would create the orders in one store and list them from the other.
*
* Closures, not named functions: PHP binds a top-level function declaration when
* the file is compiled, so a guard that returns early does not stop it being
* declared -- and this file must be safe to run twice.
*
* Idempotent: guarded by the vanam_demo_seeded option.
*/

require_once '/wordpress/wp-load.php';

if ( get_option( 'vanam_demo_seeded' ) ) {
return;
}

use Vanquish\\\\AttachMe\\\\Com\\\\Attachment;
use Vanquish\\\\AttachMe\\\\Com\\\\OrderAttachments;
use Vanquish\\\\AttachMe\\\\Com\\\\ProductAttachments;
use Vanquish\\\\AttachMe\\\\Com\\\\Settings;
use Vanquish\\\\AttachMe\\\\Com\\\\Storage;

/* ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
* 1. They find them on their order page and in the order emails, behind private download links. Files that belong to a whole product — a manual, a size chart, a data sheet — work the same way, on the product page, after purchase, or both. Upload the file, pick one from the media library, or point at a URL.

Uploaded files are not left where a URL can find them: they sit behind server rules and an unguessable path, and they are served through an endpoint that checks who is asking — the customer who placed that order, or somebody who can manage the shop. That is not a setting you can turn off — it is the only correct way to serve a file attached to an order, so it is simply how the plugin works.

Large files go up in pieces, so your server's per-request upload limit is not the limit on what you can attach.

Proofs: file approval with your customer (Premium). Send a design, a print layout or a translation from the order for the customer to approve. They approve or reject it on their order page and you write to each other; every new version asks for approval again, and the whole history stays on the order. No opening a thousand products.

Bulk order attachments — one file for the orders you pick by number, or for every order: terms and conditions, a warranty, a notice. Every product and order lists the bulk attachments that reach it.

Proofs / approval requests — send a file from the order for the customer to approve: a design, a print layout, a translation, uploaded or picked from the media library. They approve or reject it on their order page, you write to each other, and every new version you send asks for approval again, with the whole history kept. The customer can add files to their answers. Their verdict can move the order to another status; emails to each side are grouped, so three files sent in a row make one email. Reminders when nobody answers, and automatic approval after a number of days, announced to the customer beforehand. The page says how many orders it is about before anything is deleted, asks you to confirm, works a few orders at a time and carries on from where it stopped if a request fails. The same cleanup can run by itself every night. Each order keeps a note of what was removed.

Download history — see on every order whether the customer has downloaded each file, and when: under the file's name, in full when you open it, and as an order note the first time. Off until you switch it on, for every file or only the ones you choose.

Proofs in the orders list — a "Proofs" column shows each order's files to approve and where each stands, the ones to fix first, with the customer's unread messages flagged. One click opens the order on its proofs.

Withdraw a proof — take back a file sent by mistake, or no longer needed, without deleting it: the customer can no longer answer it and it stops counting towards the order status, while its conversation stays. You choose whether the customer still sees it, marked as withdrawn, and whether they get an email about it. Restore it with one click.

Moving from WooCommerce File Approval — its files, conversations, customers' files, answers, settings and preset answers become proofs, from one button.

Works with Vanquish Upload Files — the customer uploads their artwork with Upload Files, you press "Send a proof" on that file, and the proof form opens here, filled in. The plugin writes the rules that close a directory to direct access, in the forms Apache and IIS understand. Because nginx honours neither, the path is unguessable as well: each order's files sit under a directory name derived from a secret the plugin generates for your site, rather than from the order number, and every stored file keeps its own name with twelve random characters added.

And the way in is the only way in: every download goes through a signed link, which checks whether the person asking placed that order or can manage the shop.

There is no switch for any of this. A file attached to an order is private by definition, and an option to serve it insecurely would only ever be turned on by mistake.

Can I attach a file that is bigger than my server's upload limit?

Yes. Do I lose anything?

No. Your settings, your texts, the files on your products and the files on every order are converted for you. The importer runs from Attach Me → Settings → Import old data, a tab that appears as soon as the old plugin's data is found. It shows how much is left as it goes, and finishes in the background if you close the tab. An order is also converted the first time somebody opens it, whatever happened before.

Your files stay where they are on disk and keep working, and the old plugin's download links are still understood. A customer with an account follows one after signing in, and so do you.

A link to a guest order's file needs one thing more than the link. Those old URLs were built as
?wcam_id=<order number>-<0, 1, 2...>
, which anybody can type out, and a guest order has no account to check the visitor against — so on its own such a link is not proof of anything, and is refused. It works when the request also carries the order key, which is the token WooCommerce puts in the order links it emails: following the file from the customer's own order page works, pasting the bare old URL does not.

The old plugin's data is left in place rather than deleted, so nothing is destroyed by importing. You can keep both installed while you check the result, then deactivate the old one.

I use the CodeCanyon "WooCommerce File Approval" plugin. Can I move?

Yes: proofs are its successor, in Premium. Under Attach Me → Settings → Proofs / File approval, a card appears on any site that has its data, and imports it in one go: each file becomes a proof on its order, with its conversation, the files the customer sent and the customer's answer, each with its date. Its settings and preset answers can come along too. Nothing of the old plugin is changed or deleted, and the import can be run again: what was already imported is skipped.

File Approval replaced a file when a new one was sent and kept no history of it, so each proof starts with one version: the file as it is now. The files your customers sent are copied into the protected folder; File Approval kept them in a public one.

Will my translations of the old plugin carry over?

Partly, and without doing anything. This plugin has a new name for its translations, so a translation made for "WooCommerce Attach Me!" or "WooCommerce File Approval" (with Loco Translate, say) does not apply to it as it is. But many texts did not change — "Attachments", "Download / View", "Approve", "Reject", "Approved", "Rejected" among them — and for those, when this plugin has no translation of its own, it uses yours. It finds the old files where WordPress and Loco Translate keep them, so the old plugin does not have to stay installed; nothing is copied or changed. Attach Me → Settings → Import old data shows whether one was found for your language.

The texts that changed are translated like the rest of the plugin, with Loco Translate for example, and the ones your customers see can also be set under Attach Me → Settings → Texts. The free version on WordPress.org is the same plugin with fewer features: install it on your own site, with your own theme, and check that the attachments look right on your order pages, your product pages and in your emails before upgrading. Premium adds features on top of it, on the same foundations.

Can my customers draw their corrections on the file?

Yes, in Premium, on an image or a PDF proof. Under the file the customer finds a Mark up button: it opens the file full screen, where they can draw freehand, add arrows, boxes, circles and notes in four colours, and undo what they do not like. On a PDF they turn the pages and mark the ones that need changing, up to ten. The drawing is saved as a PNG of the proof with the marks on it — one per page marked — and goes with their answer — "Request changes", say — or as a message on its own. The file has to be one kept on your site: one at another site's address cannot be drawn on.

Why do the emails about proofs arrive a few minutes late?

On purpose. When something happens on a proof, the email is not sent at once: it goes about two minutes later, and everything that happens on the same order in the meantime goes into that one email. Three files uploaded one after another, or an answer followed by a second message, make one email instead of three. This is Premium, as proofs are.

You choose the wait under Attach Me → Settings → Proofs / File approval → Emails to the customer → When they go: at once, or after 2, 5 or 10 minutes. "At once" sends one email for each thing that happens. On a site with few visitors the queue only runs when someone opens a page, so the two minutes can become more. A real server cron that calls
wp-cron.php
every minute keeps it on time.

For a wait the option does not offer, use the
vanam_proof_notify_delay
filter, in seconds. It now opens upwards when there is no room below, and scrolls when there is no room either way.

New (Premium): the subject and first line of the email the shop gets when a customer answers or writes about a proof are on the Texts tab, under Proofs › Emails & reminders › To the shop. Besides [order_number] and [customer_name] they take [proof_answer] — "approved", "rejected" or "new message", words you can change there too — and [proof_title], so the subject can say at a glance what the customer did. The wording stays as it was until you change it.

1.9.0

New (Premium): Mark up on PDF proofs too. The editor shows the PDF a page at a time, with "‹ Page 1 of 6 ›" to turn the pages (or Page Up and Page Down); the customer marks the pages that need changing, up to ten, each with its own drawing, and each page marked goes with their answer as a PNG of its own. Images work as before. The PDF is drawn in the customer's browser by pdf.js (Mozilla, Apache 2.0), included in the plugin and loaded only when someone opens a PDF to mark it up; scripts inside a PDF never run. Only files kept on your site, as for images.

New (Premium): a "Proofs" column in the orders list, next to "Attachments": one short line per file to approve, a coloured dot, its name and where it stands — "to fix", "waiting", "approved" or "withdrawn" — the ones that need you first, with a blue "1 new" on those with a message from the customer you have not read. Past three, "+N more" shows the rest in place. Each name opens the order on its proofs. It appears once you have sent a proof, and can be switched off under Proofs / File approval › Order screen › Orders list.

1.8.0

Fix: 1.7.3 could stop a whole site with a fatal error ("Call to a member function is_switched() on null") when another plugin made WordPress translate one of this plugin's texts very early, before the language settings were ready (reading the cron schedules on plugins_loaded is enough). Such an early text is now left as it is.

New (Premium): withdraw a proof. A file sent by mistake, or no longer needed, is taken back without deleting it: the customer can no longer answer it, it stops counting towards the order status, and the conversation says when. Restore puts it back as it was, and so does sending a new version. Under Proofs / File approval › Withdrawn files: whether the customer still sees it, marked as withdrawn, or no longer sees it, and what the "Email the customer" switch starts as when you withdraw. Four new texts on the Texts tab, and a "Withdrawn" view on the Proofs screen once there is one.

New (Premium): the messages you send from "Message the customer" stay on the order. Listed under the form, newest first, each opens on what it said and which files went, with "Use again" to put it back in the form; the tab shows how many. They go with the order, and with its personal data.

1.7.3

New: coming from the CodeCanyon "WooCommerce Attach Me!" or "WooCommerce File Approval" on a shop in another language, the texts that did not change ("Attachments", "Download / View", "Approve", "Reject" and more) now use your old translation when this plugin has none of its own. Read from where WordPress and Loco Translate keep it (.mo or .l10n.php), so the old plugin can be gone; nothing is copied. The Import old data tab, and the File Approval import card, say whether one was found for your language.

1.7.2

New (Premium): five more lines of the customer's proof screen on the Texts tab, under Proofs › On the order page › Approve & reject: the three hints that say a message is needed (to approve, to reject, with any answer), the line after a rejection ("We will send you a new version to check.") and the date a file will be approved on its own, with [date] where the date goes. The last one is also used in the reminder emails. Translations already made for these lines keep working.

Theme copies of premium/proofs.php keep showing the old fixed wording for these lines until they are copied again.

1.7.1

New (Premium): choose when the emails about proofs go out, under Proofs / File approval › Emails to the customer › When they go: at once, or after 2, 5 or 10 minutes. The wait gathers what happens on an order into one email; 2 minutes, as before, unless you change it. The
vanam_proof_notify_delay
filter still works, and has the last word.

New (Premium): choose the tab the order's "Files & proofs" box opens on, under Proofs / File approval › Order screen: the last tab used, as before, or always Files, or always Proofs. A link to a tab still opens that tab.

Developers: the
vanam_order_metabox_first_tab
filter sets the tab the box opens on.

1.7.0

New (Premium): Mark up. Under an image proof the customer finds a "Mark up" button that opens the file full screen, with a pen, arrows, boxes, circles, notes, four colours and undo. The drawing is saved as a PNG of the proof with the marks on it, and goes with their answer or as a message, where you see it in the conversation. Switch it on in Proofs / File approval › Files from the customer; it works with customers' uploads off too. Images only for now, not PDF.

New (Premium): Mark up file by file. The switch on the Proofs tab is what each new file to approve starts with; any file can have it on or off on its own, in its settings (the gear beside it on the order screen). Files sent before 1.7.0 follow the switch.

New (Premium): three new texts for it on the Texts tab, under Proofs › On the order page › Mark up.

1.6.5

New (Premium): developers can add to the customer's proof screen without overriding its template. The actions
vanam_proof_customer_preview_after
and
vanam_proof_customer_form_fields
, the
vanam_proof_card_ready
event, and
window.vanamProofCustomer
, which starts an answer and attaches a file to it: for example a markup tool that sends the customer's drawing with their rejection. They are listed in
includes/api.php
.

Changed (Premium): the template
premium/proofs.php
has the new actions, and data attributes on each card. A copy in a theme needs them for the above.

1.6.4

Changed: the plugin's homepage, linked from the Plugins screen, is now its page on vanquishplugins.com, with screenshots, plans and answers.

Changed: the description says how proofs work with "Send a proof" in Vanquish Upload Files.

1.6.3

New (Premium): other plugins can start a proof from their own screens. The "New file to approve" form opens filled in from a button of theirs, keeps a reference of theirs with the proof, and says when the proof is created;
vanam_get_order_proofs()
and
vanam_proofs_available()
let them show its state. Vanquish Upload Files uses them for "Send a proof" on a file the customer uploaded.

Changed (Premium): an automatic approval fires the
vanam_proof_event
action like every other answer. It sends no extra email.

1.6.2

New (Premium): "Only in the emails", a switch under the emails of a product file and of a bulk product rule. The file goes out with those emails and shows nowhere on the site. Files that arrived that way from the CodeCanyon plugin say so on their row, in the free version too.

Changed: the plugin's icon has been redrawn.

Fixed: a product file kept to the emails, sent as a download link because it was too big to attach, could not be downloaded from that link.

Fixed: the message shown when the server drops a large upload named a "Save attachment" button that no longer exists.

1.6.1

Changed: the plugin's icon has new colours, on the account and upgrade screens.

1.6.0

New: the settings screen has been redrawn. Every tab is made of cards with one setting per row, numbers carry their unit, and a bar to save or discard appears as soon as something changes.

New: the Texts tab is an editor in two panes. The texts are grouped in the order the customer meets them, each group says how many have been changed, and one search covers them all; "Customised only" shows what you changed, and each changed text has a button back to the default. On a multilingual site one language shows at a time, with the default language's wording under each field. The email texts have their placeholders as buttons.

Changed: General asks "Show attachments on the order received page" the right way round, and "No limit" is a switch next to the largest file to attach. Your settings keep their values.

Changed: Default options: each card keeps its own "Use for new", and "Available when the order is" and "Add it when the order is" ask for the statuses that show the file rather than the ones that hide it.

Changed: Import old data shows what it found as one row per kind, each with its state.

Changed (Premium): Proofs / File approval: reminders and automatic approval are two switches, their days are lined up with a preview of what will happen when, and "Applies to orders that are" replaces "Not for orders that are". Cancelled, refunded, failed and draft orders are always left out, as before.

Changed (Premium): the shortcodes are a table, each with a Copy button.

Fixed: on the Default options tab the editors of the download links text and of the message to the customer could show as a plain text box.

Fixed (Premium): Default options said the wording of the terms was on the General tab. It is on Texts, and the link now goes there.

Fixed (Premium): Import old data told the premium version that some data was waiting for the premium version. It now links to the screens where that data is imported.

Older versions: see the full changelog at https://plugins.svn.wordpress.org/vanquish-attach-me-for-woocommerce/trunk/changelog.txt

Order and product attachments for WooCommerce: attach files, show them to the customer and send them with the order emails.
["GET
